# Add a subject to a video

1. Use the `add_subject_to_video` tool. To replace a character, outfit, location or product instead, use `swap_anything` (see `pika-swap`).
2. Get the `video` (`ask_for_media` with `kind: "video"`, or an earlier output url) and, optionally, an `image` of what to add, in one message.
3. Write the `prompt` (up to 4000 chars): what to add, where it is, and what it does in the scene.
4. Set `duration_s` (`5` or `10`, default 5) and `resolution` (`720p` or `1080p`, default 1080p).
5. Call `add_subject_to_video` with a fresh `request_id` and no `max_credits`, then follow the quote's `next` (it applies the user's approval mode). On a yes, call it again with the same input and `request_id` and the agreed `max_credits`.
