# Upscale

1. Use the `upscale` tool with `mode: "image"` and `image_url`, or `mode: "video"` and `video_url` (`ask_for_media`, `prepare_upload`, or an earlier output url).
2. Image: `upscale_factor` `x2` (default), `x3` or `x4`, keeping the output at or under 24 megapixels; `model`:
`standard-v2` (default) general purpose · `high-fidelity-v2` already-sharp sources · `low-resolution-v2` small, soft or compressed sources · `cgi` illustration, 3D, game captures · `text-refine` screenshots, documents, logos, UI · `wonder-3` generative new detail, costs more.
   Also `output_format` (`jpeg` default, `png`), `face_enhancement` (default on), and `sharpen`, `denoise`, `fix_compression` 0–100.
3. Video: `target_height` `1080` (default) or `2160` (4K), and `source_height` when known; `model`:
   `starlight-fast-2` (default) production default · `proteus` cheapest and fastest, tunable · `starlight-hq` clean, high-value sources · `starlight-mini` degraded or compressed footage · `starlight-sharp` soft or slightly out-of-focus footage. Starlight models expect 30 fps or below. `compression`, `noise`, `halo`, `recover_detail`, `grain` (0–100) apply to `proteus` only.
4. Call `upscale` with a fresh `request_id` and no `max_credits`, then follow the quote's `next` (it applies the user's approval mode). On a yes, call it again with the same input and `request_id` and the agreed `max_credits`.
