name: Skill proposal
description: Propose a new skill for the AMD Skills catalog.
title: "[Skill proposal] <short outcome or skill name>"
labels:
  - skill-proposal
body:
  - type: markdown
    attributes:
      value: |
Thanks for proposing a skill! Skills earn their keep on **repeated, opinionated AMD workflows**.
Before filing, please skim `CONTRIBUTING.md` and *"Is this a good fit for a skill?"* in `docs/best-practices.md`, so we can route this proposal quickly.

Note that we only accept **federated** submissions: the skill is authored in an AMD-owned product repo and vendored into this catalog. We no longer accept skills authored directly under `skills/` here.

Fill out the short fields below, then describe the skill in detail at the end.

  - type: input
    id: name
    attributes:
      label: Proposed skill name
      description: Use `lowercase-with-hyphens`, max 64 characters, action- or outcome-oriented (e.g. `porting-cuda-to-hip`, `tuning-mi300x`, `picking-rocm-container`). Avoid generic names like `helper` or `gpu-stuff`.
      placeholder: e.g. tuning-mi300x-inference

      options:
        - "No — new idea"
        - "Yes — as documentation, a runbook, or internal guide"
        - "Yes — as a similar skill in another catalog or repo"
        - "Not sure — happy to discuss"
    validations:

    attributes:
label: Is AMD the only credible institution to create this skill?
      description: |
Skills in this catalog must be ones that only AMD is uniquely positioned to author credibly (e.g. they require AMD hardware expertise, internal performance knowledge, or first-party tooling). If another institution could produce this skill just as credibly, the skill proposal will likely not be accepted.
      options:
        - "Yes"
        - "No"
    validations:

    attributes:
label: Which AMD repo will own this skill?
description: The AMD-owned repo that will hold the skill folder and act as its source of truth. This catalog vendors a pinned copy from it. If you do not know yet, say so and we will work it out in the discussion.

Describe the skill in as much detail as you can. Useful things to cover:
          - **User goal**: what is the user trying to achieve when this skill should fire?
          - **Trigger surface**: words, phrases, file extensions, error messages, product names that should route to this skill.
          - **Platform Scope**: Is this for client? server? Both?
          - **Inputs and outputs**: what does the agent receive, and what does it produce?
