If Red Bull gives you wings, the logical endpoint is not flying — it is jumping from the edge of space. Every word of the brand promise was in the event. ## Mechanic Felix Baumgartner ascended to 128,100 feet (39 kilometres) in a helium balloon and jumped, breaking the sound barrier in freefall. The jump was live-streamed on YouTube — 8 million simultaneous viewers, the largest live stream in YouTube history at that point. Red Bull's branding was on the suit, the capsule, and every frame of footage. No ad was necessary; the event was the ad. ## Why it worked Stratos was not a sponsored event — it was a Red Bull production from conception to execution. The brand was the protagonist. "Gives You Wings" was proven at its most literal and extreme possible interpretation. The live stream transformed passive viewership into shared global experience: watching something that might kill someone, in real time, with everyone else. ## Steal If your brand promise can be expressed as a physical act, find the most extreme version of that act and make it real. Don't sponsor it — own it. The difference between sponsoring an event and owning an event is the difference between a logo placement and a brand definition. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p15]] - Emotion match: [[always-like-a-girl-2014.md|Like a Girl]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
