For Halo or a survival game launch, putting real people in a genuine physical endurance challenge makes the "survival" genre claim visceral rather than virtual. ## Mechanic A billboard on which four players competed in a live survival challenge — exposed to the elements, sustained only by the game — with the last person standing winning the ultimate gaming setup. The competition was broadcast live and online, generating earned media throughout. ## Why it worked P09 (user as co-author): real participants, real endurance, real audience investment. P05 (cultural hijack) of the stunt competition format used to demonstrate a game mechanic. The campaign turned a product launch into a week-long spectacle that gaming culture watched actively rather than advertising that interrupted. ## Steal If your product's core mechanic (survival, strategy, speed) can be literalised in the physical world with real people, the physical stunt is more credible and more media-efficient than any film about the product. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p09]] - Sibling: [[red-bull-stratos-2012.md|Stratos]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
