FedEx's entire business model rests on making that anxiety go away. The most honest version of that value proposition: show what happens when you choose someone else. ## Mechanic A TV comedy showing a series of escalating disasters stemming from not using FedEx for a critical delivery. The absurdist chain of consequences gives the brand a permission to be funny about what is genuinely a serious category concern. Part of FedEx's tradition of using humor to communicate reliability. ## Why it worked P11 (absurd as carrier): absurdist consequence chains make stakes feel real without melodrama. The humor disarms the viewer while landing a genuine product argument. FedEx consistently proved that a reliable, serious category could be led by comedy — a differentiation choice that competitors found hard to follow because it required genuine craft. ## Steal If your category is defined by anxiety (delivery, insurance, finance), comedy is the most efficient way to acknowledge the anxiety without amplifying it. The joke about failure reassures the audience that the brand understands the stakes. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p11]] - Sibling: [[metro-trains-dumb-ways-to-die-2012.md|Dumb Ways to Die]] - Sibling: [[old-spice-man-your-man-could-smell-like-2010.md|The Man Your Man Could Smell Like]] - Emotion match: [[absolut-absolut-campaign-1981.md|Absolut _____]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
