# Close the Loop (H&M · 2014)

## Insight
Fast fashion's waste is invisible to its own customers. If the brand that creates the problem also provides the solution infrastructure, it reframes its relationship with sustainability from villain to enabler.

## Mechanic
H&M invited customers to bring in old garments — any brand, any condition — to in-store collection points for recycling or resale. The film featuring designer Erin Gleason documented the circular fashion vision and drove in-store participation.

## Why it worked
The in-store mechanic creates tangible proof of commitment. Customers experience the brand as a solution rather than a problem. The collaborative framing (user brings garments; brand closes the loop) distributes responsibility.

## Steal
If your brand creates an environmental or social problem, build infrastructure that makes customers part of the solution. The action (collection point, deposit scheme) earns more trust than any campaign claim.
