# Tiny Dancer (John Lewis · 2023)

## Insight
A child's passionate, untrained expression of joy — especially when it causes minor chaos — is something parents love and fear in equal measure; Christmas gifts that enable that expression are the truest gifts.

## Mechanic
A film following a young girl's uninhibited passion for dancing, which causes havoc throughout the family home. Christmas morning she receives ballet shoes — the first formal acknowledgment and nurturing of her gift.

## Why it worked
The film celebrates uncontrollable childhood passion, which parents simultaneously treasure and manage. The gift resolves the tension: instead of containing the passion, it channels it. The Elton John track "Tiny Dancer" does significant emotional lifting.

## Steal
Find the behaviour parents both love and find exhausting in their children — the trait that is simultaneously a gift and a disruption. Frame the product as the thing that honours rather than suppresses it.
