Most white Americans don't know this conversation exists. ## Mechanic A film showing Black mothers across multiple generations — 1960s, 1980s, 2000s, present — each having "The Talk" with their children: specific instructions about how to interact with police and authority in a way that keeps them safe. The conversations change in their wording but not in their necessity. ## Why it worked P&G's brand platform is about "the best a person can be" across the family arc — a company with sufficient scale and cultural standing to address this without it being perceived as purely opportunistic. Social experiment (P12): the film doesn't editorialize or advocate; it shows a ritual so that viewers who have never heard of it can witness its reality. Long-form drama (P16): the generational structure required length to land the cumulative weight of the perpetuation across time. ## Steal Universal themes like racism become specific and credible when reduced to a single, named, repeating ritual. "The Talk" is not about racism in general — it is about one specific conversation that proves the existence of a systemic problem without argument. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p12]] - Sibling: [[always-like-a-girl-2014.md|Like a Girl]] - Sibling: [[coca-cola-small-world-machines-2012.md|Small World Machines]] - Emotion match: [[always-like-a-girl-2014.md|Like a Girl]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
