# Love Story (Skoda · 2010)

## Insight
The relationship between a driver and their car is genuinely emotional — but automotive advertising usually either ignores this (feature focus) or over-romanticises it (epic lifestyle shots). Skoda's register: affectionate, slightly self-aware, never portentous.

## Mechanic
A film treating the car-owner relationship as a genuine love story — with all the awkward, specific, domestic intimacy of real relationships rather than the cinematic sweep of automotive advertising convention.

## Why it worked
The warmth of the love story register, applied to cars without ironic distance, captured something authentic about why people care about their vehicles — without the pretension that typically accompanies this territory.

## Steal
Automotive brands that aren't premium can own the territory of genuine human affection rather than aspiration. Real love — imperfect, specific, domestic — is more memorable than aspirational lifestyle advertising.
