The table you sit at is the simplest possible proximity to the problem. ## Mechanic On World Water Day, restaurants across the US asked customers to donate $1 for the tap water they would normally receive free. Every dollar funded 40 days of clean water for one child. The menu insert was the entire campaign. Design as donation mechanism. ## Why it worked The donation ask was proportional (a dollar), immediate (right now, at dinner), and experiential (you're holding the water as you read). No TV, no celebrity, no guilt trip — just a direct, elegant conversion of an everyday moment into a global act. The design of the program was the idea. ## Steal When the gap between abundance (tap water at dinner) and scarcity (no water for children) is visible in the same moment, the donation is almost automatic. Find the physical moment where your audience's excess and someone else's absence coexist, and design the conversion in that room. ## Related - Pattern: [[../MOC-pattern.md#p09]] - Sibling: [[red-bull-stratos-2012.md|Stratos]] - Sibling: [[snickers-hungerithm-2016.md|Hungerithm]] --- *Author: Serge Shima ([t.me/aimastersme](https://t.me/aimastersme) · [sergeshima.com](https://sergeshima.com) · [aimasters.me](https://aimasters.me)) · License: CC BY 4.0 — attribution required · Source: [smixs/creative-director-skill](https://github.com/smixs/creative-director-skill)*
