# Accessibility Review Checklist - Key insight is available without color alone. - Meaningful text meets contrast expectations, and meaningful non-text marks or UI states have sufficient contrast against adjacent colors. - Important colors have redundant labels, shapes, line styles, ordering cues, or direct values. - Color roles are not overloaded across category, selection, warning, forecast, and focus states. - Labels and values do not depend exclusively on hover. - Hover-only interactions have tap, focus, selection, visible-label, or step-through equivalents. - Touch targets and invisible hit areas are large enough for coarse pointers. - Drag, pinch, and swipe interactions have accessible alternatives where they change analytical state. - Shared URLs, saved views, refresh, and back/forward navigation restore the same accessible state summary. - Collapsed configuration or drill-down areas use accessible disclosure controls and do not hide the only active filter, selection, caveat, or source context. - Mobile settings, filters, or keyboard-open states do not hide the main evidence without a clear return path. - Streaming or remote views expose live, stale, offline, partial, and reconnecting state accessibly. - AR, camera, motion, vibration, notification, or geolocation features have non-permission fallbacks and are not the only path to evidence. - Text alternative or long description exists for complex visuals. - The insight title, subtitle, annotations, source, and caveats are represented in the accessible summary. - For sensitive geopolitical or humanitarian stories, the accessible summary distinguishes measured, estimated, schematic, disputed, or dated evidence. - Focus order and keyboard access are clear for interactive controls. - Exported PDF or slide path has an accessibility fallback. - Contrast is sufficient for text, marks, and annotation. - The most important data, selected state, or annotation has stronger contrast than secondary context, basemaps, gridlines, and inactive series. - Mobile annotations remain readable, or convert to a numbered key below the chart. - Mobile portrait preserves the same claim, caveat, source context, and comparison as the large-screen view. - Data download, source link, or table fallback is available when the medium allows it. - Static export preserves dates, source context, caveats, and humane framing without hover or autoplay.
