Description
From the marketplace listing
CipherOwl brings its blockchain address screening into ChatGPT for compliance, risk, and investigations teams.
Ask about a cryptocurrency address and the plugin can:
- Screen it: report whether CipherOwl found risk for the address under your organization's risk configuration.
- Explain it: list the reasons behind a finding, such as sanctions, hacks, theft, or scams, with the direction, number of hops, and value of the exposure.
Supported networks include Ethereum and other EVM chains, Bitcoin, TRON, and Solana. Which networks you can screen depends on your organization's CipherOwl plan.
You sign in with your CipherOwl account and choose your organization. Results use that organization's data access, permissions, and risk configuration.
The plugin is read-only. It cannot send, freeze, or report funds, and it does not create alerts or cases. CipherOwl's results are risk signals that support your own compliance decisions. They are not legal advice, and the plugin does not identify private individuals.

Declared capabilities
Screen blockchain addresses for risk
Explain risk findings
Declared limitations
Moving funds is out of scope. The plugin is read-only and cannot send crypto, so ChatGPT should say it cannot make the transfer. It may offer to screen the address first, but no tool attempts a transaction.
Identifying a private individual is out of scope. CipherOwl returns risk signals, not personal identities, so ChatGPT should decline to name the owner or give a home address. It may offer the address's risk screening instead.
Market data is out of scope. CipherOwl does not provide prices, so ChatGPT should answer without calling the plugin.

# Screen a cryptocurrency address
Pick the CipherOwl tool by what the user asks:
- Whether an address is risky, sanctioned, or safe to transact with: call
`screen` with the address. Pass the chain only when the user names it;
CipherOwl detects the chain from the address otherwise.
- Why an address is flagged, or the details behind a finding: call
`reason_risk` for the address. It does not need a `screen` call first.
Explain each reason: the risk category, whether funds were sent or
received, how many hops away the source is, and the value and share of the
exposure.
When you answer:
- Report what CipherOwl found under the organization's risk configuration.
A clean result means CipherOwl found no risk indicators; never promise that
an address is safe.
- After a `screen` result that found risk, offer to explain the reasons,
unless the user already asked why or for the details; then call
`reason_risk` right away.
- If a result carries a `plan` note, tell the user what it says, so a limited
result is not presented as complete.
- If a result carries a link to the address on CipherOwl, include it.
- CipherOwl returns risk signals, not personal identities. Do not try to
identify the people behind an address.
- These tools are read-only. They cannot send, freeze, or report funds.
