name: career-plan
description: Plan a career move with PokeBot, giving career goals with timelines, a skill-gap analysis with a readiness score out of 100, or a week-by-week growth plan of 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Use when the user asks for career goals, which skills they need for a target role, how ready they are for it, or a learning or growth plan to reach it.
---
# Career plan with PokeBot
Pick the PokeBot tool by what the user asked for:
| The user asks for | Tool | Required inputs |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Career goals, such as goals for a move to a new role | `analyze_career_goals` | `current_role`, `target_role` |
| Skill gaps, or how ready they are for a target role | `analyze_skill_gap` | `current_role`, `target_role`, `target_level` (`entry`, `mid`, `senior` or `lead`) |
| A growth, learning or development plan | `generate_growth_plan` | `main_goal`, `target_role` |
## Steps
1. If the user gave none of the required inputs, call `show_career_input`. It opens a form with Goals, Skill Gap and Growth Plan tabs where the user fills in the details and runs the analysis. If they gave some of them, ask for the missing ones in one short message instead. Never invent roles, goals or details.
2. Run only what the user asked for. If it isn't clear which one they want, ask. If they asked for more than one, run them one at a time.
3. Pass the optional details the user mentions:
- career goals: `goal_type` (`short-term`, `mid-term`, `long-term` or `all`), `industry`, `priorities`;
- skill gaps: `industry`, `focus_areas` (`technical`, `soft`, `leadership` or `domain`);
- growth plan: `timeline`, `intensity` (`light`, `moderate` or `intensive`), `target_skills`, `learning_style` (`self-paced`, `structured`, `project-based` or `balanced`), `preferred_formats` (`video`, `reading`, `hands-on`, `courses` or `books`), `focus_areas` (`skills`, `networking`, `certifications`, `projects` or `job-search`).
4. Growth plans come in four lengths: `1-month`, `3-months` (the default), `6-months` and `1-year`. For any other length, use the closest one and tell the user the plan was rounded to it.
5. If the user shared their resume in this chat for this request, you can pass its text as `resume_text` to `analyze_career_goals` or `analyze_skill_gap`.
6. Report the result as PokeBot returned it. Don't change its scores, timelines or plan, or add your own. A growth plan's text covers the first 4 weeks in detail. If the user asks about weeks the result doesn't cover, say so, and don't present weeks you write yourself as PokeBot's plan.
## Rules
- Don't tell the user that a result is saved to a PokeBot account.
- If a tool returns a usage-limit message, show it to the user as it is, including its link, and don't retry.
- If a tool returns any other error, tell the user what it says.
- The user's explicit instructions take precedence over this skill.
## If PokeBot's tools aren't available
If these tools aren't available in this chat, tell the user they can choose PokeBot.ai Career Coach (type @ in the message box and select it) and send the request again, and in the same message offer to help without PokeBot instead. If you help without PokeBot, don't present your own plan as PokeBot's.

# Cover letter with PokeBot
PokeBot's resume tools for this are `show_resume_input` and `generate_cover_letter`.
1. You need the user's resume and the job description, as text they pasted in this chat or the text of a file they attached to the chat. Never write or guess either text.
- If the resume is missing, call `show_resume_input`. In its Cover Letter tab the user can attach or paste their resume, paste the job description, and write the letter there.
- If the user then pastes or attaches the texts in the chat instead, call `generate_cover_letter`, not `analyze_resume`.
- If only the job description is missing, ask the user to paste it.
2. Call `generate_cover_letter` with `resume_text` and `job_description`. Also pass what the user told you:
- `purpose`, if they say what the letter is for: `job-application`, `internal-transfer`, `career-change`, `referral` or `speculative`;
- `tone`, if they ask for one, in a few words such as Professional or Warm (50 characters at most);
- `recipient_name` and `recipient_role`, if they give the hiring manager's name or title.
3. Show the letter PokeBot wrote.
4. If the user then asks for changes, you can edit the letter with them in the chat. Use only facts from their resume or what they tell you. Don't add experience, skills, employers or numbers they didn't give you.
## Rules
- Don't tell the user that the letter is saved to a PokeBot account.
- If `generate_cover_letter` says the resume or the job description wasn't provided, ask the user for it.
- If a tool returns a usage-limit message, show it to the user as it is, including its link, and don't retry.
- If a tool returns any other error, tell the user what it says.
- The user's explicit instructions take precedence over this skill.

# Resume-to-job match with PokeBot
PokeBot's resume tools for this are `show_resume_input` and `match_resume_to_job`.
1. You need two texts from the user: their resume and the job description. Use what they pasted in this chat, or the text of a file they attached to the chat. Never write or guess either text.
- If the resume is missing, call `show_resume_input`. In its Job Match tab the user can attach or paste their resume, paste the job description, and run the match there.
- If the user then pastes or attaches the texts in the chat instead, call `match_resume_to_job`, not `analyze_resume`.
- If only the job description is missing, ask the user to paste it.
2. Call `match_resume_to_job` with `resume_text` and `job_description`. If the user named the job title, pass it as `target_job_title`.
3. Report the result as PokeBot returned it: the match score, the keywords the resume covers, the keywords it is missing, and the recommendations. Don't change PokeBot's score or add your own.
4. If the user then asks for help tailoring the resume, you can help in the chat. Use only facts from their resume or what they tell you, and present the changes as your suggestions, not PokeBot's.
## Rules
- Don't tell the user that the result is saved to a PokeBot account.
- If `match_resume_to_job` says the resume or the job description wasn't provided, ask the user for it.
- If a tool returns a usage-limit message, show it to the user as it is, including its link, and don't retry.

description: Run a mock interview with PokeBot. The user sets it up in PokeBot's interview setup form, answers one question at a time, gets a score out of 100 and feedback on each answer, and gets a performance summary at the end. Use when the user asks for a mock interview, interview practice, or to practice answering interview questions for a role. Don't use it for a plain list of likely interview questions or for general interview tips.
---
# Mock interview with PokeBot
PokeBot's interview tools are `show_interview_setup`, `start_interview`, `submit_answer` and `end_interview`.
## Always start with the setup form
1. For every mock interview request, call `show_interview_setup` first. Do this even when the user has already given the role, level or interview type, and even when they ask to skip the form. Never call `start_interview` in the same turn as `show_interview_setup`.
2. Tell the user, in one or two sentences, to fill in the form and click Start Interview. The whole interview then runs inside the form's card: the questions, an answer box, a score for each answer and the final summary.
3. If the user types an interview answer in the chat while the interview runs in the card, don't answer it, score it or comment on it. Tell them to paste it into the answer box in the interview card.
## Run the interview in the chat only if the form didn't start
Run the interview in the chat only after you have shown the setup form in this chat and the user then tells you it didn't start or doesn't work. If the user says the form doesn't work before you have shown it, show it first anyway (step 1).
1. You need the role (`position`), the seniority (`entry`, `mid`, `senior`, `lead` or `executive`) and the interview type (`technical`, `behavioral`, `resume` or `job_fit`). Use what the user already gave you, in the chat or in a message the form sent, and ask for anything missing in one short message.
2. Pass the optional details the user gave: `company`, `industry`, `difficulty` (`easy`, `medium` or `hard`), `feedback_style` (`encouraging`, `normal` or `constructive`) and `num_questions` (3 to 8, and 5 by default). If they ask for fewer than 3 or more than 8 questions, use the nearest allowed number and tell them.
3. A `resume` interview needs the user's resume text in `resume_content`. A `job_fit` interview needs the resume text and the job description in `job_description`. Use only text the user pasted or attached in this chat. Never write a resume or a job description for them.
4. Call `start_interview`. Show the question number (for example "Question 1 of 5") and the question word for word, exactly as PokeBot wrote it. Then stop and wait for the user's answer.
5. When the user answers, call `submit_answer` with the `session_id` from `start_interview` and the user's answer exactly as they wrote it. Don't correct, shorten, expand or polish it.
6. Show PokeBot's score, feedback and suggested answer, then the follow-up or next question, word for word. Stop and wait again. PokeBot asks at most one follow-up per main question.
7. When PokeBot says that was the last question, or the user asks to stop, call `end_interview` with the same `session_id`. Show the summary: the overall score, the strengths, the areas to improve and the recommendation.
## Rules
- One question at a time. Never answer a question for the user, and never submit anything they didn't write as their answer. If they ask something else, such as to repeat the question, reply without calling `submit_answer`.
- Show only the scores and feedback PokeBot returned. Don't add scores of your own.
- Don't tell the user that the interview is saved to a PokeBot account.
- If a tool returns a usage-limit message, show it to the user as it is, including its link, and don't retry.
- If a tool returns an error, tell the user what it says. If `start_interview` says the interview type needs a resume or a job description, ask the user for it.
- The user's explicit instructions take precedence over this skill, with one exception: the setup form always comes first.
## If PokeBot's tools aren't available
If these tools aren't available in this chat, tell the user they can choose PokeBot.ai Career Coach (type @ in the message box and select it) and send the request again, and in the same message offer to help without PokeBot instead. # Resume score with PokeBot
PokeBot's resume tools for this are `show_resume_input` and `analyze_resume`.
1. Get the resume text: the resume the user pasted in this chat, or the text of a resume file they attached to the chat. If there isn't one, call `show_resume_input`. It opens a form where the user can paste or attach their resume and run the score. Never write or guess resume content.
2. If the user also gave a job description and wants to know how well they fit that job, follow the job-match skill instead.
3. Call `analyze_resume` with `resume_text` set to the full resume text.
4. Report the result as PokeBot returned it: the overall score, the scores by dimension, then the main strengths, areas to improve and recommendations. Don't change PokeBot's scores or add your own.
5. If the user then asks for help rewriting parts of the resume, you can help in the chat. Use only facts from their resume or what they tell you, and present the changes as your suggestions, not PokeBot's.
## Rules
- Don't tell the user that the result is saved to a PokeBot account.
- If `analyze_resume` says no resume text was provided, ask the user for their resume.
- If a tool returns a usage-limit message, show it to the user as it is, including its link, and don't retry.
- If a tool returns any other error, tell the user what it says.
- The user's explicit instructions take precedence over this skill.
