name: get-around-switzerland-by-train
description: Answer Swiss train and public-transport questions with the Swiss Activities tools — timetables, connections to airports, resorts and summits, scenic trains and which rail pass or day ticket pays off for a trip. Use when someone asks for a train, bus or boat connection in Switzerland, a scenic train, the Swiss Travel Pass or another Swiss rail pass.
---
# Get around Switzerland by train
- **A connection:** `plan_journey` with origin, destination and the Swiss local time. «Arrive by» questions use `arrival`, lake cruises `boat`. Give departure, arrival, line, platform and transfers exactly as returned, and the ticket link.
- **Which ticket or pass pays off:** `recommend_rail_pass` with the dates, the stops in travel order with nights, every traveller's age and the country of residence. It prices the trains with live fares and ranks single tickets, Swiss Half Fare Card, day passes, Swiss Travel Pass and regional passes. Say which products it could not compare exactly (`not_compared`), and that mountain excursions come on top — `advisor_url` compares them too.
- **What a pass covers:** `find_rail_passes`; a price for a date and group: `check_availability` with the pass `id`.
- **Scenic trains** (Glacier Express, Bernina Express, GoldenPass) and mountain railways are bookable products: `search_activities`, then `check_availability`.
- Times and prices only from the tools; if a connection is not found, offer another time or a nearby station.

name: hike-in-switzerland
description: Find and plan a hike in Switzerland with the Swiss Activities tools — official trails by walking time and difficulty, theme trails for families, closures, the weather and the public transport to the start and back. Use when someone wants to go hiking, walking, snowshoeing or sledging in Switzerland.
---
# Hike in Switzerland
1. **Match the hike to the walkers:** `search_hikes` near the place with `max_minutes`, `trail_class` (wanderweg for easy, bergwanderweg for mountain trails), `shape` (loop or A to B) and `for_kids` for theme trails with stations. Winter: `winter` for sled runs, winter hikes, snowshoe and cross-country trails.
2. **Check before recommending:** closures in the results, `get_weather` for the day, and `get_hike_details` for the route, sights along the way and variants.
3. **Get there and back:** `plan_journey` to the trail's start stop and from its end stop.
4. **Answer** with walking time, distance, ascent, trail class, start and end stops, transport times and the weather. Mention closures first. Say when a value is unknown instead of guessing.

name: plan-a-day-in-switzerland
description: Plan a day out, a family outing or a short trip in Switzerland with the Swiss Activities tools — activities and tickets, free places with opening hours, hikes, weather and public-transport connections. Use when someone asks what to do somewhere in Switzerland, wants ideas for kids or bad weather, or wants a day planned.
---
# Plan a day in Switzerland
1. **Know the frame.** Place, day, who comes along (children and their ages), budget, car or public transport. Ask only for what is missing and matters; a place and a day are usually enough to start.
2. **Check the weather first** with `get_weather` for the place and day. Rain or a warning → prefer `indoor` activities and indoor places; sun → outdoor activities and hikes.
3. **Collect options in parallel:**
- `search_activities` for bookable activities and tickets (`for_families` with children, `indoor` in bad weather, `max_price_chf` for a stated budget).
- `search_places` for free places — `kids` for children, `museums` on rainy days, `viewpoints` or `mountain-railways` for views.
- `search_hikes` when walking fits — `for_kids` for theme trails, `trail_class: wanderweg` for easy hikes, `max_minutes` for the time available.
- `get_point_of_interest` when the user names an attraction (Titlis, Pilatus, Rhine Falls): operating hours, whether it runs today and its tickets.
4. **Check the facts before recommending:** age limits against the children's ages, `rain_ok` and `setting` against the weather, opening hours with `get_place_details`, free start times and the group price with `check_availability`.
5. **Get there:** `plan_journey` from the start point to the first stop and between stops, in Swiss local time.
6. **Answer** with a short plan in time order: what, when, how long, what it costs, how to get there, and the link for every bookable item. Never invent prices, times or opening hours — a value the tools do not return is unknown; say so and link the page.

name: plan-a-trip-to-switzerland
description: Plan a multi-day trip or holiday in Switzerland with the Swiss Activities tools — where to stay, what to see each day, trains between places, the right rail pass and the weather. Use when someone plans a Switzerland itinerary, a round trip or a first visit, or asks how many days to spend where.
---
# Plan a trip to Switzerland
1. **Frame it:** number of days, arrival airport or city, season, travellers (children and their ages), interests (mountains, lakes, cities, hiking, snow) and budget. Ask only for what is missing.
2. **Pick 2–3 bases** close together by train (e.g. Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt) instead of moving every night.
3. **Per base, collect options:** `search_activities` for excursions and scenic trains, `search_places` for sights and places with opening hours, `search_hikes` when hiking fits, `get_weather` for the dates within the next 7 days.
4. **Connect the bases** with `plan_journey` (real departures, transfers, platforms) and let `recommend_rail_pass` price the trains of the whole trip — dates, stops with nights, ages and country of residence — to name the pass (or single tickets) that pays off; excursion tickets come on top. For a named attraction, `get_point_of_interest` gives its hours and tickets.
5. **Answer day by day:** base, main activity, alternative for bad weather, travel times, prices from the tools and the booking links. Never invent prices, times or opening hours.

name: visit-a-swiss-attraction
description: Plan a visit to a named Swiss attraction or excursion destination with the Swiss Activities tools — Jungfraujoch, Titlis, Pilatus, Rigi, Rhine Falls, Gornergrat and more: hours, tickets and prices, the train there and the weather. Use when someone asks how to get to, what it costs or when to visit a specific attraction in Switzerland.
---
# Visit a Swiss attraction
1. **The attraction:** `get_point_of_interest` with its name — what it is, the operating or opening hours (first and last ride for mountain railways), whether it runs today, and the tickets we sell with their `id`.
2. **The day:** `get_weather` for the place and date; on the summit, clouds matter more than rain.
3. **Tickets:** `check_availability` with the ticket `id`, the date and the group for free times and the group price.
4. **Getting there:** `plan_journey` from where the user starts to the valley station, arriving well before the last ride up.
5. **Answer** with the day in order — train, ride up, time on top, ride down — the prices from the tools and the booking link. Never invent hours or prices.
