Description

From the marketplace listing

Urantia Papers gives the assistant direct, structured access to the text of the Urantia Papers, a public domain text of 196 papers and a Foreword. What it does: - Fetches any paper, section, or paragraph by reference, such as 2:0.1, with the paragraphs around it. - Reads and searches a Spanish translation of the whole text as well as the English text. - Searches the whole text by keyword or exact phrase, or by meaning. - Looks up more than 4,400 named beings, places, and concepts, and finds the paragraphs that name each one. - Reads and searches the Bible and 21 other public domain texts, scriptures and classics such as the Dhammapada, the Bhagavad Gita, the Koran, and the Tao Te Ching. Finds the Urantia paragraphs nearest in meaning to a passage, and the Bible verses nearest to a paragraph. - Checks a quotation against the text and returns a citation of a paragraph in APA, MLA, Chicago, or BibTeX. - Returns links to narration audio for a paragraph. It is for readers, students, and researchers who want quoted passages with exact references, and for developers who build study tools. Limits: every tool only reads, and nothing is saved for the user. There is no account or sign-in. The Spanish text is a machine translation, labeled as one on each paragraph; the other texts are in English. The cross-references are ranked by similarity of meaning; they are not a curated list. Each other text is one public domain translation. The plugin quotes the text and does not interpret it for the user. This is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with Urantia Foundation.

Competitor profile

From the developer’s listing and package; capabilities are not independently tested. Package observed Nov 3, 2026.

Declared capabilities

  • Search the text by keyword or meaning
  • Read papers and paragraphs by reference
  • Read and search the text in Spanish

Declared limitations

  • A write request. The plugin only reads and has no accounts, so the assistant must say it cannot save a note through this plugin.
  • A text the plugin does not carry. It serves the Urantia Papers, the World English Bible, and the 21 other texts that works.list returns beside the Bible, and the Avesta is not one of them. The assistant must say the plugin has no Avesta text and must not present Avesta passages as coming from this plugin. It can answer from another source.
  • A reference that does not exist. The papers end at 196, so the tool returns not found and the answer must say so without inventing text.

Review scenarios; not an exhaustive list.

name: urantia-research
description: Accurate, well-cited research of the Urantia Papers with the urantia-papers MCP tools. Use for questions about the Urantia Papers (The Urantia Book), its teachings, beings, places, and concepts, or its parallels with the Bible and other scriptures and classics.
---

You have the urantia-papers MCP tools. Use these patterns for accurate, well-cited answers.

These are defaults. If the user gives an explicit instruction that differs, such as a different citation style or no quotes, follow the user.

## Tool selection

- **A question in plain language:** `search.semantic` with `query`. It finds passages related in meaning, even without the same words.
- **A specific term or phrase:** `search.fulltext` with `query` and `type` (`and` by default, or `phrase`).
- **A known reference:** `paragraphs.context` with `ref` and `window`, so the answer sees the paragraphs around it. Use `paragraphs.get` for one paragraph only.
- **A whole paper:** `papers.get` with `paper_id` (0 is the Foreword, 1 to 196 are the papers). It returns reference, section, and plain text for every paragraph.
- **Structure:** `toc.get` for the Foreword, the 4 parts, and all 197 papers. `papers.sections` for the sections of one paper.
- **A being, place, or concept:** `entities.list` with `query`, then `entities.get` with `entity_id`, then `entities.paragraphs` with `entity_id`. An entity with `citationCount` 0 is a cross-reference: follow its `seeAlso`.
- **The Bible:** `bible.verse` for a verse, `bible.verse.urantia_parallels` for the nearest Urantia paragraphs, `bible.search.semantic` to search the Bible by meaning. Pass `include_bible_parallels` on a paragraph tool for the other direction. These are semantic neighbors, not a curated list.
- **Another text (the Koran, the Dhammapada, the Bhagavad Gita, the Poetic Edda, and the others):** `works.list` for the works and their ids, `works.read` for a passage by reference, `works.search` or `works.search.semantic` to search them, `works.urantia_parallels` for the nearest Urantia paragraphs. Each text is one public domain translation; name it when you quote.
- **Spanish:** when the user writes in Spanish or asks for the Spanish text, pass `lang: "es"` to `toc.get`, `papers.list`, `papers.get`, `papers.sections`, `paragraphs.get`, `paragraphs.context`, `paragraphs.random`, `search.fulltext`, and `search.semantic`. Say that the Spanish text is a machine translation (each paragraph has a `translation` label). The other tools are English only.
- **A quotation or a citation:** `quotes.verify` to check a quote against the text, `cite.get` for a citation of a paragraph in APA, MLA, Chicago, or BibTeX.

## Research workflow

1. **Search:** run `search.semantic` on the user's question.
2. **Expand:** for each key result, call `paragraphs.context` with `window` 2 or 3.
3. **Cross-reference:** use the entity tools for named beings, places, and concepts.
4. **Answer:** combine the passages into a clear answer, with a reference for each quote.

## Citations

Cite every passage by its reference, `paper:section.paragraph`, as the tools return it in `standardReferenceId`. Quote the exact text from the tool result. Never quote from memory.

Examples:

- "Love is the desire to do good to others." (56:10.21)
- "God is love, but love is not God." (2:5.10)

## Facts

- 197 papers: the Foreword (paper 0) and papers 1 to 196, in 4 parts: I The Central and Superuniverses, II The Local Universe, III The History of Urantia, IV The Life and Teachings of Jesus.
- More than 14,500 paragraphs and more than 4,400 named entities.
- `search.semantic` returns a `similarity` score from 0 to 1. Both search tools take `paper_id` and `part_id` filters.
- Say "the Urantia Papers" for the text. "The Urantia Book" is the title of the 1955 published book.

Release notes

The text in Spanish too: the paper, paragraph, and search tools take lang "es". 26 read-only tools: the Urantia Papers, the World English Bible, and 21 other public domain texts (scriptures and classics), with quote checks and citations, plus a research skill for cited answers.
